A freeware, watered-down image editor for vector graphics.
WinTopo is a basic program which can be used to convert raster images to vector while supporting several common image formats like TIF, GIF, PNG and JPG.
When running WinTopo, users may import certain vector image formats such as SHP, WTX or ARC. You can zoom in, zoom out, crop images, erase parts and thin images.
WinTopo includes several useful features which make it possible to vectorize images, for example by using edge detection.
The application includes different features for applying effects to images such as brightness, contrast and gamma levels. You may also use WinTop to convert images to greyscale, rotate, mirror and despeckle.
There are several other interesting options available from the menus of WinTopo for converting photos and other images to vector images.
In conclusion, WinTopo includes many different tools while providing a good quality conversion to vector shapes. The layout is pretty basic and does not have any real learning curves to overcome.
